Welcome!

We are a Scouting America (formerly BSA) boy troop with a focus on the scouting fundamentals of backpacking, hiking, primitive camping, and high adventure programs. Our troop is boy-led with the guidance of adults. Scouts join us from Lucketts, Leesburg, Lovettsville, VA and beyond.

What is Scouts?

Scouts BSA is the traditional Scouting program for youth aged 10* – 17 years old. It is one of the oldest youth organizations in the United States, where young people can participate in various outdoor activities like camping, backpacking, and much more! At Scouts BSA, we aim to teach young people:

  • Character development
  • Citizenship training
  • Leadership
  • Mental and physical fitness

Scouts do many activities, including but not limited to: camping, hiking, backpacking, outdoor cooking, canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking, exploring hobbies and potential careers, community service projects, and rank advancement.

Scouts in the Scouting program also participate in organized events like summer camp, high adventure programs, community service projects, and National Scout Jamborees. Scouting encourages young people to try new things, serve others in their communities, and tackle any challenge they might face in their lives with full hearts and clear minds.

* Youth can be Scouts if they are at least 10 years old, currently in the fifth grade and register on or after March 1; OR have earned the Cub Scout Arrow of Light Award and are at least 10 years old, OR are age 11 but have not reached age 18.

We meet most Thursdays from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.

How to Join

  1. Come to a few meetings to check out our troop
  2. Complete the Youth Application that we will provide
  3. Pay the annual registration fee
    • Additionally, our troop collects $5 monthly dues
  4. Get your uniform
    • Ask about our Scout hand-me-down closet or purchase your formal uniform (Class A) new from the scout shop
    • Casual uniforms (Class B) can be purchased from the troop
  5. Show up and have fun!
